How to Safely Manage Product Deletions

In order to ensure system stability and prevent the accidental deletion of important products, the platform has implemented safeguards that protect critical items like subscriptions, calendars, and community products. These safeguards are designed to maintain the integrity of linked features and subscriptions.

What’s Protected?

1- Products with Active or Past-Due Subscriptions:

When you attempt to delete a product that has an active or past-due subscription, the system will prevent the deletion. This ensures that you do not accidentally remove any products that are tied to active services.

If there are no active or past-due subscriptions associated with a product, it can be deleted.

2- Calendars & Membership/Community Products:

Products created by calendars or membership/community features cannot be deleted. This is to prevent the accidental removal of linked events or community-related features that are essential for ongoing operations.

The delete option has been disabled for these types of products to prevent mistakenly deleting them.

3- Bulk Deletion:

When attempting bulk deletion, if your list includes restricted products (such as those with active subscriptions or products from calendars and memberships), only the eligible products will be deleted. The restricted items will be excluded from deletion.

Ensure that only products that do not have active subscriptions or are not part of calendars or memberships are selected for bulk deletion. If you choose "Select All" to delete, the system will automatically exclude the restricted products.

4- Price & Variant Deletion:

Once a price or variant for a product is saved, the delete option will be disabled to avoid mistakes. However, prices or variants that have not been saved (i.e., newly added but unsaved) can still be deleted.

If the price or variant has been saved, you will not be able to delete it. If the price or variant is unsaved, the delete option will remain available.

5- Identification of Calendar Products:

A "Calendar" tag has been added to calendar products in the product listing page. This tag will help you easily identify products that were created through the calendar feature, preventing confusion during product management.

How to Use This Feature:

1. Navigate to Product List:

Go to the Products section to see all the available products.

Here, you can check which products have active subscriptions or are part of calendar or membership features.

2. Attempt Deletion:

For individual deletions, attempt to delete any product that you wish to remove. If the product is linked to active subscriptions or is a calendar or membership product, it will not be deleted.

3. Bulk Deletion:

When using bulk deletion, only the products that are eligible (not part of restricted categories like calendars, memberships, or products with subscriptions) will be removed.

4. Price/Variant Deletion:

If you wish to delete a price or variant, ensure it has not been saved yet. If it’s already saved, the delete option will be disabled.

Where Can I Find These Options?

- Product List Page:

Navigate to the Payments → Products → Product List Page for individual or bulk deletion attempts.

- Product Add/Edit Pages:

Go to Payments → Products → Product Add/Edit Pages to manage and delete prices/variants.

FAQ:

Why can't I delete my calendar or membership products?

A: These types of products are essential for ongoing operations, and deleting them could disrupt linked features such as events or community access. As a safeguard, the system prevents the deletion of these products.

I’m trying to delete a product with a subscription, but it won’t let me. Why?

Products with active or past-due subscriptions cannot be deleted to ensure that ongoing services are not interrupted. If you still wish to delete the product, ensure there are no active or past-due subscriptions linked to it.

Can I delete multiple products at once?

Yes, you can use the bulk deletion feature, but please note that only eligible products (those not linked to active subscriptions or calendars/memberships) will be deleted. Restricted products will remain unaffected.

How do I identify calendar products in the product list?

Calendar products are now tagged with the "Calendar" label in the product listing page to help distinguish them from other types of products.
