Troubleshooting Guide: Integrating Facebook & Instagram with Social Media Co-Pilot
If you’re seeing account connection errors or unable to connect your Facebook or Instagram account to the Social Media Co-Pilot, it’s usually due to account type or connection requirements set by Meta’s API.
Follow the steps below to make sure your accounts are set up correctly.
Check your Facebook Setup
- You must connect a Facebook Page, not a personal profile.
- Personal Facebook accounts cannot be posted to via the Co-Pilot tool.
Fix: If you don’t already have a Page, create one on Facebook. Once your Page is set up, try connecting it again through the Social Media Co-Pilot.

Reconnecting Facebook Through Meta:
If your accounts/pages meet the requirements above but the connection is still unsuccessful:
- In Facebook, click the small dropdown arrow at the top right of your screen.
- Select Settings & Privacy > Settings.
- Click Business Integrations on the left-hand side.
- Locate M Studio in the integrations area and click Remove.
- Return to M Studio and try connecting again.
- When reconnecting your Facebook Page, make sure to accept all permissions and all Pages (even Pages not connected to M Studio) during the authorization process.
Check Your Instagram Setup
- Your Instagram must be a Business or Creator account.
- It must also be linked to a Facebook Page.
- Personal Instagram profiles cannot be connected.
Fix:
Switch your Instagram to a Business or Creator account. Please review this help article directly from Instagram for more information on setting up a new Business account or creating a new one:
