Will captions/translation be available for virtual events?

If you’re attending a virtual event via Zoom, please note that live audio translations in languages other than English won’t be available. However, Zoom does offer an option to enable Closed Captions!

📝 How to Turn On Closed Captions in Zoom

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Click the “Show Captions” Button

Look for the "CC" icon on your Zoom toolbar at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Choose Your Caption Language

A pop-up window will appear. From here, select your preferred caption language and click Save.

  3. Start Viewing Captions

Once enabled, live captions will begin appearing automatically at the bottom of your Zoom window.

💡 Captions are a great way to stay engaged, especially in louder environments or if you prefer reading along with the speaker.

If there is also an option to watch on YouTube, you can take advantage of the platform's closed captions and auto-translate option!

First, click on the Closed Captions "CC" icon at the bottom of the video:

You can then utilize the Settings Icon to adjust the language the captions are generated in!

To do so, select the Settings Icon, Subtitles/CC, then select Auto-Translate

From there, you will be able to scroll through the languages available for translation:
